Life Outside the Heat: A Typical Day At The Ferguson Fire Department

A typical day in the life of a Ferguson fire fighter starts out with simulated training. They suit up and go into a smoky building attached to the firehouse and do the procedures they would do in the event of a real fire. Going into what seems to be a burning building may seem crazy to bystanders, but for these men and women it is just a part of the every-day routine.

Other than the training and actual firefighting, they live a pretty normal life. The firehouse is equipped with a gym, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and everything they need. The staff even has a “biggest loser” contest going on around the department to see which group can lose the most weight.
